The Banzhaf Power Indexes of Battleground States
During my Junior year at Elon, I wrote my final research project on the political implications of the Banzhaf Power Index of Battleground States in the Electoral College. I found that calculating the Banzhaf Power Index for presidential campaigns can help us make predictions about future campaign strategies, like campaign visits and Vice-Presidential selections, and can also help us retrospectively understand the outcomes of past elections. Campaign Strategy Memo
During my fall semester of my junior year at Elon, I took a course called "Campaigns and Elections," in which we were each given one of the most competitive races during the 2018 mid-terms. I was assigned the 2018 Ohio Governor's election, which was the closest gubernatorial races in the country during the mid-terms. Right before the election, we had to back-date a "Strategy Memo," where we had to write as a Campaign Strategist to one of the candidates in the election, citing campaign research to develop a strategy for their campaign. I wrote to the Republican candidate, Mike DeWine. You can download the full memo here:
All the President's Tweets: An Analysis of Donald Trump's Twitter Account and 'Fake News' Rhetoric
This is an academic sample where we were told to choose three digital "memes" and how they were used to convey a political message. I chose to write mine on Donald Trump's use of his personal twitter account and three "memes" that he has tweeted and how it has impacted his election to the presidency and his public perception since getting inaugurated. As you can see above, my final project was a 10 minute video on the subject.
